Guest blog post for Indiegogo.com & Semifinalist ‘audition’

Hey foos!  (This is my endearing term for people btw– I am the world’s biggest foo)

A few lil announcements for this very nice Thursday.  First, I hope you had a delightful Valentime.
My bebe and I are gonna celebrate V-Times tonight on somebody else’s dime.  Cuz we’z all broke n sh*
So, we are going to a party at the new Projective Space Location in the Lower East Side– hopefully there will be a lot of no-shows so that there will be more free Vodka for me to drink.

On that note, I wanted to share the link to my post on Indiegogo’s blog.    So just, you know, click the word post.  Or click the image.  Lots and lots of opportunities here.

Also yesterday I had my lil interview with the folks from Rooster and the Next Big Small Brand Contest.  I thought it just went super.  I had a lot of fun doing it, oh, and I got me A THIRD TICKET.  But alas, wish me luck.  Maybe I’ll make the Finals!  I’ll keep you posted.

So, in conclusion:

I hereby announce that, starting today (this morning I delivered to Bagelsmith on Lorimer) I OFFICIALLY CEASE the practice of driving my bread ANYWHERE! ANYMORE!

Happy day! love!

Next Small Big Brand Finalist, new accounts, embarrassing confessions.

Good morning you lovelies.

So there’s been a whole lot-o stuff hapnin over on this end.

First I’d like to confess some stuff to you.

In an earlier post I wrote about my bike getting stolen.
Lemme tell you somethin people. This bike was NOT stolen.  I forgot where I locked it.  I also walked past it every day for two weeks and never bothered to look at it.

Also,
I got two– AHEM TWO parking tickets yesterday.

On to better things.  This morning I’m heading to the kitchen to not only bake for tomorrow (more about that in a sec) but also to greet the Rabbi who will be issuing my Kosher Certification.

Last week I found out that Free Bread was selected as a Semi-Finalists for The Next Big Small Brand Competition.  This competition gives small food brands in NYC and San Francisco a shot at some serious prizes– PR, equipment, branding, and lots, lots more.  This is a huge opportunity for lots of people to become introduced to Free Bread — which is obviously the goal here people.   Tomorrow are interviews with the judges as well as sampling– so wish me luck.   Finalists are announced later in the month and boy-o-boy do I hope I’m on that list.

Next bit of news– I did some serious bread hustlin yesterday and secured three new accounts.  Later this week, Free Bread’s products will be available at Bagelsmith on Lorimer and Metropolitan in WBBK, at the incredible Food Liberation (no website– no computers even!) on Lexington and 89th, and at Cup in Bushwick & Greenpoint BK.

More later.  Have to run to meet with a free accountant!

Slava Rubin, Indiegogo Founder & CEO, asked me to speak with him at an NYC Business Solutions Seminar!

I’m so psyched about this guys-

I have been asked to speak about my experiences with Indiegogo.com to people all over the city who are looking to fund their own small business enterprises.

The seminar will take place tomorrow from 10am to noon, and both Slava Rubin and Vlad Vukicevic, Co-Founder of Rocket Hub, will be speaking.

AND SO WILL I!!!!

For anyone who is interested in starting their own business,  this should be really, really  super.

You better sit down while you read this

1.  Free Bread, Inc. is now corn-free!  We’ve (I’ve) replaced all of our corn products with arrowroot starch.
2.  Free Bread, Inc. has a new phone number!  917 757 9438
3.  Free Bread is in the process of Kosher and Gluten Free Certification!

ooooooooeeeeeeeeeeee!   Hope you aren’t drivin’– you’d veer right off the road!

Also, on a more interesting note,  Free Bread Inc. will be available at a few very special retailers & coffee houses by the middle of the month!  I’ll be adding a “find us at” page.

Free Bread will be at the Just Food Expo on Saturday February 25th, and at the Columbia University Intestinal Immune Based Inflammatory Diseases 2 day Symposium (I KNOW you wanna go to THAT)  on March 2nd.

Lots more news, no more time to write about it.  Love you all!

A sad day for everyone. Or maybe just me.

It was a warm day outside, by all accounts.

But inside, it was cold.  So so cold.

Because inside my body was a heart that was broken the moment I went outside — and saw the empty bar that once kryptoned my 1979 Schwinn.  This was almost her– only with straight handlebars and a basket that used to be full to the brim with delicious bread rolls.

She was worth at least $35.00

And now she’s gone.

Free Bread, Inc. featured on Startup America Partnership’s Blog

Scott Case, CEO of Startup America Partnership, asked me to write a blog entry about my experiences raising money on the popular crowd funding website Indiegogo.

He asked me to do this because the Partnership has engaged dozens of giant companies, asking them to provide startups with products and services to help them get growing and hiring and building the economy.  Indiegogo has offered startups who have an account with Startup America Partnership huge discounts off their fees- this is a really big deal as money is what we need most!  I really wish I’d has those discounts when I started my campaign.

So Indiegogo is partnering with the partnership, as the partnership is partnering with partners that can help startups partner with other partners.

Sorry, got a bit silly there.

Anyhow I wrote that there blog post and here’s the link
How Indiegogo made my friends make me build a business

Enjoy!  Had a lot of fun writing this one.

Whole Foods UWS and updates!

Yesterday (Saturday, January 21st) was Gluten Free Awareness day at the Columbus & 98th Street Whole Foods Market.  Free Bread was invited, along with a few other gluten free food vendors including cookbook author Annalise RobertsGlow Gluten Free, and Posh Pop BakeShop.

It was a wonderful day-  snowy and windy outside, so thankfully, CROWDED indoors at the store.  Free Bread, Inc. (I) felt right at home at Whole Foods– in my dreams a future reseller of my healthy, hearty, delicious breads.
Met lots of lovely folks, sold tons of bread rolls, and had an overall terrific experience.  Thanks so much to all those who came out, supported, and purchased.

Please check the new page– Nutritional Labels and Ingredients– on this dinky ole website of mine. Several customers asked for this info at the table yesterday.  Also check out the Come See Us page to find out where we’s gonna be next. As of right now, our next event isn’t til late Feb-  the Just Food Expo.  Hopefully there will be more events before that one but I just put em up as I sign up for em.

Hope y’all are eating chicken wings and pizza, drinkin beers and watching some beefy dudes wrestle on a green patch of land.
